ARTIST STATEMENT:
For many years I have been interested in the book as an art form and I‘ve made a few. Recently, in the last few years, I’ve taken classes to learn how to properly construct a book, so that it will last through the handling by many hands. While I like the intimacy of this art form and its implication of containment, I’m not as interested in filling the space between covers with a sequence of pages leading to a linear narrative as in conventional books; instead, I have been exploring the three dimensional potential of the artist’s book form.

Found objects and found images can trigger associations with events, people and emotions relating to one’s personal history. Simultaneously, the formal aspects of objects can inspire creative experiments in reassigning meaning to these objects through the arrangement of the abstract elements of color, texture, shape and line. Some of my works serve as containers for memories of what has passed, while others are the result of free association with these design elements.
