(Raymond, ME) Hole in the Wall Studioworks is pleased to announce the gallery's June exhibit, featuring works by Kate Winn and Willa Vennema. While each artist's work differs from the other, their common love of the Maine coast connects them. The show will run through Wednesday, June 23rd.

Kate Winn:
“We have a tiny piece of land where we camp that's on the Taunton River near Acadia National Park. Bob (Kate's husband) built a dinghy that we use to glide down the river and watch the eagles and seals. Most of my images come from there. The places that interest me already seem to contain some piece of me and I feel compelled to explore that resonance. I revisit them many times in my mind before I commit to a painting. We all see the world through the colored glasses of our particular experience, and it is important for me to tell the part of the story that sometimes need time to form.”

Willa Vennema:
“I have been painting the landscape of Swan's Island, a small island off the coast of Maine, ever since I was a child. It was to this island that my family would escape during the hot month of August each year from New York City. It was also my love of this special place that I moved to Maine from San Francisco eighteen years ago. While I paint in a representational manner, my work is not realistic. The challenge for me has been to capture the beauty of a place in each work, yet create paintings which carry their own aesthetic. I hope to reflect the beauty of the natural world, but my interest is not in trying to recreate it.”

Hole In The Wall Studioworks is located on Route 302 in Raymond, Maine. Gallery hours are 10:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday, Sunday 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. For more information, please call (207) 655-4952. For more information, please visit www.holeinthewallstudioworks.com.
