(Image: "Sue's Doll and Ma's Hen" by Susan Bennett) The exhibit runs June 26th through July 31st. (Raymond, ME) Hole in the Wall Studioworks July show, “Where The Heart Is”, is a home theme group show with works by six artists in various mediums. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, June 26th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Susan Bennett's new reliefs are drawn from memories. The reliefs are constructed from wood, metal, paper and found objects. The photos and drawings are embedded in encaustic medium, creating a personal narrative of home.
(Image: "Shelter" by Anne Bernard) Anne Bernard explains that her work grants her access to things unknown—through both the process and the result. Each piece arises from response to materials, the natural world and memory. She says that "often, a meaning is not clear to me. Just as often, there is not so much a meaning as a feeling of connection—more something felt than something named."
(Image: "Bedtime Story" by Linda Green) Linda Green references Rose Kennedy who once said, “Life isn't a matter of milestones, but of moments.” In Green's art, she strives to capture the beauty of the light and the mood it creates. Her goal is to recreate these moments in my paintings for the viewer to enjoy, no matter whether she is using pastels or making fine drawings with silver point.
(Image: "House" by Dave Hall) Dave Hall utilizes many mediums to the fullest extent. His three dimensional house wall reliefs characterize both Maine architecture and a sense of home.
(Image: "All for Naught" by Tracy Sunday Mastro) Tracy Sunday Mastro uses the art she creates as a personal journal. She uses images of houses, trees, landscapes of above and below ground to represent her ideas, emotions, dreams—anything she may be thinking about at the time.
(Image: "A Gift From The Cat" by Brenda Atwood Pinardi) Brenda Atwood Pinardi is a narrative painter who creates on an intuitive level, responding to impulses that stem from the subconscious. Part surrealist, part symbolist, and part expressionist, she tells stories allowing them to flow outward in a kind of visual stream of consciousness. At the core of all of her work is a search for innocence lost. Hole In The Wall Studioworks is located on Route 302 in Raymond, Maine. Gallery hours are 10:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday, Sunday 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. For more information, please call (207) 655-4952 or visit the Hole in the Wall Studioworks website. |
