(Belgrade Lakes Village, ME) Handmade paper on panels by Christine J. Higgins and paintings by J. Thomas R. Higgins runs through December 10th at the Maine Lakes Resource Center in Belgrade Lakes Village. Ten percent of all sales will be donated to the Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance. Come meet the artists during the Belgrade Holiday Stroll on Saturday, December 3rd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

About Christine Higgins
Christine J.Higgins uses her own handmade papers as chin colle. Each paper comes from the original fibers of mulberry, abaca, flax, or cotton which are then soaked, beaten, pigmented, and drained onto screens. After they are pressed and dried, she uses them for a variety of artistic purposes, either alone as paper screens or added to other surfaces. Images from her digital photography are often also in her monotypes. Her subject is reflective of natural elements, and a recent body of work includes visual observations of the geographical impact of meeting of land and water.

About J. Thomas R. Higgins
A plein air painter of the first degree, Tom Higgins balances both art and nature. The act of painting and the subject of his painting are in equal measure at the tip of his brush. His subject usually lies in the realm of a respectful view of a solitary Maine prospect and his technique is to apply paint quickly before the moment passes. This insightful combination has propelled him to the front ranks of contemporary Maine landscape painters.

The Resource Center is located at 137 Main Street in Belgrade Lakes Village and is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
