(Islesford, ME) The Little Cranberry Island based painting workshops have a few places left in each of their two sessions for September 2012. Four years and seven workshops have created a community of artists that return year after year to participate in these extraordinary “mini-residencies”. Most are drawn by the exuberant energy and collaborative spirit created by Ashley and Henry. All abilities and media are very welcome. These long time friends and colleagues, with decades of art college teaching behind them, appear to effortlessly create a non-competitive atmosphere of exploration and experimentation in two dimensional media. While technique is demonstrated, in the end it is about the picture. After a day of largely individualized advice and instruction, critiques and discussions are held during evening drinks and hors d'oeuvres.
These gatherings have become so well known that audience visitors attend from the mainland often out numbering artists, to hear Ashley, Henry and participants discuss topics raise arising from the day's painting. These critiques are followed by wonderful gourmet meals created by our hosts, The Islesford Dock Gallery and Restaurant.
