(Image: "Shift #4" by Gail Spaien) The Exhibit Runs Through November. (Portland, ME) Gail Spaien interprets the natural world from different perspectives; as an observed specimen, as an aesthetic concept, as a metaphor and as a subject that can represent inner experience. Spaien received her BFA from the University of Southern Maine and her MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Painting Program at the Maine College of Art. The grantee of numerous fellowships, she has also participated in many group and solo exhibitions. Spaien's work hangs in both public and private collections.
