(Image: Painting by Anne Tarbox) (Portland, ME) “Amidst The Trees” runs August 5th through August 31st with an opening reception on Friday, August 5th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Anne often begins her paintings on location and then finishes them in her studio. She works in gouache on smooth hot press rag paper to emphasize color and shape. After many years of painting with watercolor, Anne started to combine gouache with watercolor and grew to love the richness and opacity of gouache, a water based paint which has a very rich pigment base. Ms. Tarbox received a degree in art education from the University of Maine at Orono and continued her studies in painting at Maine College of Art. She taught painting, sculpture, and ceramics at Yarmouth High School, Yarmouth, Maine for 22 years and is currently active in her local arts organizations. Anne’s work has been featured in MAEA exhibits at Bates College, USM, UMA and at the Davidson and Daughters Adjacent Gallery, the Thomas Moser Gallery, Skyline Farm and a one-woman show at the Merrill Memorial Library art gallery. Heron Point Gallery is pleased to be exhibiting this extraordinary work. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
