(Image: Photographs by Ali Goodwin) (Kittery, ME) Drift Contemporary Art Gallery will be opening the exhibition Two by Two on Friday, October 1st, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The solo exhibition will feature an installation of hundreds of 2”x2” original photographs and other selected works by Ali Goodwin, owner and curator of Drift Gallery. The exhibition runs from October 1st through October 22nd, and will be the last exhibit at Drift Gallery until Spring 2011. Goodwin says, “It’s fun and challenging to do a project like this. Not only does it mean printing, cutting and hanging hundreds of tiny little photographs, it also means pouring through thousands of my original photos and creating interesting ‘thumbnails’ from each one. I’m excited to see as the photographs are sold and removed from the installation, the negative space that will be created on the walls. It’s affordable, interactive art.” Ms. Goodwin has been accepted for a two month artist-in-residence program at Takt Kunstprojektraum in Berlin, Germany. While there, she will be working at the Takt Gallery and living in her studio while focusing on various artistic endeavors, including a photographic journey through former East Berlin neighborhoods, and documenting with a 1937 Voigtlander Brillant camera once owned by her grandfather, the cities and towns in Germany that he flew B-17 missions over during WW2. Her 2”x2" photographs are signed originals and priced at $10 each. All proceeds from Two by Two will go to support her participation in the Takt Kunstprojektraum Residency Program. Drift Gallery is participating in Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce Artfest with an Open Studio on Saturday, October 2nd, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. |
