Opening on Friday, July 27th With a Reception at 5:00 pm(Farmingdale, ME) 3 UNDER PRESSure is an exhibit of three printers with a shared love for the alchemy of ink and paper. Their techniques impart nuance, depth, and texture. Individuals expressing stories about character and relationship, these artists bring broad and distinctly original life to their work. The show runs through September 7th at Renaissance Gallery. (Image: "Maelstrom" by Margo Ogden)
Karen Adrienne is an artist and Professor of Art at the University of Maine at Augusta. Karen’s new body of work is titled “For the Two”. Prints are created on an etching press making two reciprocal images at one time. One image is created by the other with a series of foldings, embossing, inkings, and reversing orders. Karen is the founder of Circling the Square Fine Art Press, in Gardiner, Maine. Claudia Brahms is a designer and mixed media artist. She brings a life long involvement with fabric and color into her printed work. Her marks have an abundant reference to the textures and patterns she studies. The integration of soft pastel adds another dimension, playing and layering dialogue into the images. Claudia is a member of One of a Kind Printmakers. Margo Ogden is a mixed media artist who is currently making prints. Ogden started to create monotypes when she discovered that the complexities she enjoys as a painter can be combined with the unexpected pleasures of printmaking. Her use of color and texture is greatly influenced by her studies in Venice, Italy. Margo is a member of One of a Kind Printmakers. Renaissance Gallery is located at 645 Maine Avenue in Farmingdale. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. For more information, please click here or call 207-623-3575. |
