April 8th through April 18th at the Lewiston/Auburn Community Little Theatre(Auburn, ME) One of the longest-running works of musical theatre in history, Blood Brothers is a musical written by Willy Russell, based loosely on the 1844 novella The Corsican Brothers by Alexandre Dumas. This contemporary prince-and-pauper tale, set in Britain, revolves around twins (“Mickey” and “Eddie”) born into an impoverished family. Deserted by her husband, and unable to cope with her oversized brood of children, their mother gives one of the boys to the wife of her wealthy employer. Years later, the brothers meet and become inseparable friends, but their relationship is doomed. Whether it is a child's inherent nature or the way he is nurtured that determines his fate is at the crux of the storyline.
