On Saturday, December 10th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm(Belfast, ME) Waterfall Arts in Belfast presents Draught & Draw, a unique extension of their popular Life Drawing program in conjunction with HANDMADE, an alternative/indie craft show and sale. Artists of all skill levels are invited to drop in, enjoy a cold beer and be inspired by the extraordinary costumes and thrilling moves of one of Maine’s most unique belly dancing troupes, Paradigm East. Paradigm East was founded by AO and Zanjibal in 2005. Their unique approach to belly dance draws influence from Rom, Dark Cabaret, Neo Tribal fusion, Cabaribalusion, Egyptian and more. Draught & Draw will be broken up into two sessions with a mix of long and short poses. Each session will feature a performance by Paradigm East before the poses begin. Mike Fletcher, Life Drawing group monitor extraordinaire, will MC the event. There will be a $10 drop in fee for Draught & Draw, which can be paid at the door. Participants should bring their own preferred drawing supplies. Easels and drawing benches will be provided. Locally brewed beer will be on tap for attendees over 21. Hours for HANDMADE are Thursday through Sunday, December 1st through the 11th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and by appointment. The show will be open late during Draught & Draw. HANDMADE is a fundraising event for Waterfall Arts, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the organization and its programming. This year’s collection was curated by Meg Fournier, Janane Tripp and Jess Porter. Participating artists include Colleen Kinsella, Justin Richel, Shannon Rankin, Mosey Handmade, Dyan Berk, Morris + Essex, Kris Johnsen, CVIC Works, Eric Hou, Dylan Metrano, Orange Iron Fabrications, Mike Hadley, Zoa Chimerum, Katenia Keller, Lovelight Studio, Sour Owl in the Lele Tree, Dye Lot Collective, Local Girl Leather, Sisters Soap, Ferdinand, Strong Arm Bindery and many more. Waterfall Arts, located at 256 High Street in Belfast, is a non-profit community art center offering classes, artist residencies, events, studio rentals and artist talks.
