The Exhibit Runs August 3rd through September 29th(Portland, ME) There will be an opening reception for the artist on Friday, August 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Maine-native Randall Harris is an artist and curator who has been living in New York City for nearly 20 years. A fine art graduate from the University of Southern Maine, Harris moved to New York to pursue his artistic career. By 2000, he had founded Figureworks, a fine art gallery specializing in figurative art representing contemporary and 20th century artists in the heart of vibrant Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Since opening Figureworks, Harris has hosted a life drawing group in the gallery, and as a weekly participant, he derives much of the inspiration for his work from these sessions. This exhibition specifically focuses on his recent life drawings using rapidograph pens and colored pencils. Harris' early drawings were all done in charcoal, then moved towards colored pencil and with a confidence of line moved into pen and ink. Most of the work in this exhibition combines ink with colored pencil. This development details and dialogues with the figure to turn these whimsical studies into complete works of art. Heron Point Gallery features fine art and craft by Mainers. The gallery is located at 63 Market Street at the Corner of Middle and Market Streets next to the White Cap Grille. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. For more information, please visit www.heronpointstudio.com or call 207-773-0822. |
