Leon Vanella is a photographer based in Newcastle, Maine. In 2003 after someone suggested that they would like to see the world the way that Leon does, he went and bought a point and shoot digital camera with a portion of his limited college student budget. Since then, he has honed his skills and his approach through relentless practice, and continually asks himself the question “What single frame represents this scene, to me?” In choosing to shoot a particular subject matter, Vanella finds that wildlife has emerged as a genre that inspires more enthusiasm in him than most other subjects. Vanella says, “The natural world's near endless variety and intricacy serve to motivate me.” The Rising Tide Community Market is located at 323 Main Street in Damariscotta.
