At the Art Gallery March 9th through March 31st(Farmington, ME) There will be an opening reception on Thursday, March 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In Ghosts, seven dynamic Maine artists explore the mysteries of the human face. Working in different mediums and styles, the artists approach the face from wildly different perspectives, from fantastical portraiture to digital generation of the haunting faces of virtual individuals through morphing. Painter and exhibition organizer Abby Shahn writes, “I was looking at an old photo, a picture of a guy looking for evidence of specters and documenting the results. I realized that all photographs, all drawings and paintings of people are evidence of specters.” The other artistic collaborators in this exhibition are Alan Crichton, Barbara Sullivan, James Fangbone, Juliet Karelsen, Martha Miller, and R. Henry Nigl. The University of Maine Farmington Art Gallery is located at 246 Main Street in Farmington. For more information, please visit the Gallery's website. |
