A portfolio of twenty-five prints from one of the world's leading modern artists will be on display at the Colby College Museum of Art through September 21, 2008. Chuck Close is a painter, photographer, and master printmaker. Most of Close’s work uses an underlying grid as the basis for representing a given image. This “grid” method helps to break down the features of a face into incremental pieces, each playing an integral part in the intensely realistic whole.
