Selection Includes 44 Artists and 65 Works of Art:Maine Art Scene magazine is pleased to announce the artist selection for its fourth annual online artist exhibit. 84 artists submitted a combined total of 375 pieces of art. Founders Brenda and Thierry Bonneville as well as curator Daphne Anderson Deeds, Maine Artist Ben Potter and Maine art collector Sam Mitchell selected 44 artists represented by 65 works of art. In addition, this year five Maine artists were selected to have a room dedicated exclusively to showcasing a broader range of their works. As with the previous showcases, all selected works for the showcase will become part of Maine Art Scene's permanent virtual art library. The 2013 Online Artist Showcase Will Feature: The Five Individual Selected Artists Are: “This year, we had the good fortune of working with Daphne Anderson Deeds who brings the utmost professionalism and a wealth of knowledge, and Ben Potter, a professor of art at Unity College in Maine, and a highly regarded contemporary artist in our state. For the third year in a row, we are very grateful to have Sam Mitchell on the jury as well—he has been collecting Maine art for many years and brings keen sensibility to the process," said Brenda Bonneville, editor of maineartscene.com. “As in previous years, our annual showcase highlights the enormous amount of artistic talent that can be found throughout the state of Maine.” "The quality of the submissions to Maine Art Scene's competition was remarkably strong. There are a lot of great artists in Maine," said Daphne. "It was also great fun to review the work with this jury. We were able to reach consensus even though we all had strong opinions." "Working with Daphne, Ben and Sam as fellow jurors proved to be very rewarding," said Thierry Bonneville media director of Maine Art Scene. "They each brought an invaluable perspective to the table." Maine Art Scene, LLC. (maineartscene.com), is Maine's online arts and culture magazine devoted to promoting Maine artists and arts organizations in new and enterprising ways. Maine Art Scene would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the many wonderful artists who submitted their work for consideration.
