Presented by the Machias Bay Chamber Concerts on Tuesday, July 7th at 7:30 pm. In 1997 James Campbell received Canada's highest honor, the Order of Canada. This was given in recognition of 25 years performing clarinet concerts in Canada and throughout the world. Campbell is considered by many as Canada's pre-eminent clarinetist and wind soloist and has performed in most of the world's major concert halls. His discography includes over 20 albums, many of which have won international acclaim. James Campbell is the Artistic Director of the annual Canadian summer music festival, The Festival of the Sound. Mr. Campbell is Professor of Music at Indiana University School of Music. The trio also features Irina Muresanu on violin, who has won international acclaim as an out-standing young soloist, recitalist and chamber musician and has already achieved top prizes at the Montreal International, Queen Elizabeth Violin and Washington International Competitions. One of Canada’s best-known pianists, Nova Scotia-born Paul Stewart rounds out the trio with Campbell and Muresanu. He has appeared frequently with the Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Winnipeg Symphonies, the National Arts Center Orchestra and in partnership with many of Canada’s finest musicians.
