(Portland, ME) You promised yourself you’d write this summer, remember? Well, the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance (MWPA) has just the thing to inspire you! The MWPA has launched a new series of Saturday writing workshops that stretches from July to September. The workshops are hosted in communities around the state and focus on a variety of writing disciplines, including fiction, memoir, poetry, and more. In July, Howard Waxman will teach “Read with Conviction: How to Present Your Writing to a Live Audience” at the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, and Elizabeth Peavey will teach the memoir workshop “The Best Truth: How Honest Are You Willing To Be?” at the Rockland Public Library. In August, Gibson Fay-LeBlanc presents “Poems Into Manuscripts: How to Shape Individual Poems into a Book” at the York Public Library, and Josephina Gasca will conduct a two-part fiction workshop called “PEN2PAGE: Learn to Jumpstart Your Fiction” at the Patten Free Library in Bath. Finally, in September, Ron Currie, Jr. will teach a multipart master class in fiction called “No Secret Handshake” at USM Portland’s Glickman Family Library. For more information on exact dates, workshop descriptions, instructor biographies, and registration fees, please visit the MWPA website at www.mainewriters.org. Fellowships are available for each workshop. If you have further questions, please contact the MWPA by calling 207-228-8263 or via email at info@mainewriters.org. |
