(Belfast, ME) Fourteen poets, ten visual artists, four performing artists, and more will participate in the 5th Annual Belfast Poetry Festival October 16 and 17, 2009 in downtown Belfast. The festival has added new events to the weekend as well as continuing its tradition of the popular Gallery Walk.

“This is a community-based festival that features established, professionally recognized poets and artists from throughout Maine along with emerging poets to create a lively mix,” says Belfast Poet Laureate Linda Buckmaster. “Last year’s festival brought over 200 people to town for the weekend activities, and many more saw the gallery exhibits throughout the month.”

New this year is the Maine Postmark Poetry Contest open to all Maine residents. Deadline for submissions is July 4, 2009 and more information can be found at www.belfastpoetry.com.
