(Image: Painting by Harold Garde) On October 15th and 16th in Downtown Belfast. (Belfast, ME) The 6th Annual Belfast Poetry Festival announces its line-up of poets and visual and performing artists from across the state who will be featured at the October 15th and 16th event. Pairs of poets and artists will create new collaborative work for the festival that will be exhibited in downtown Belfast galleries for the month of October.

(Image: "Morning Swim" by Alison Rector) Painter Harold Garde has been chosen as the poster artist, and for the festival he will be collaborating with Belfast Poet Laureate Linda Buckmaster. Other poet/artist teams include: Henry Braun and artist Robert Shetterly; Carol Bachofner and dancer Joan Proudman; Jacob Fricke and found materials artist Daniel Anselmi; Leonore Hildebrandt and glass artist David Jacobson; Kristen Lindquist and sculptor Beth Henderson; Dawn Potter and photographer Thomas Birtwistle; Bruce Pratt and painter Alison Rector; Jeffrey Thomson and metal sculptor Isabelle Pelissier. In addition, Mihku Paul will create text and image pieces with translations from the Passamaquoddy.

(Photograph "Blue Station Wagon by Thomas Birtwistle) On Saturday, October 16th at 1:00 pm, the Poetry and Art Gallery walk will open with early music singers from Ave Maris Stella at the Belfast Dance Studio. The audience will then move among the galleries to see the art, hear the poetry read, and learn about the collaborative process. The event will close with a reception at Waterfall Arts in Belfast.

The two-day event opens Friday night, October 15th with Maine Poets Old Home Night, an open reading where the winner of the Maine Postmark Poetry Contest will be announced.
