(Rockland, ME) Custom Museum Publishing in Rockland announces a new catalog just off the press this fall for Gleason Fine Art. This 239-page catalog entitled, “American Coastal Art” represents a private collection by Charles J. and Irene Hamm. As mentioned in the forward by the Hamms, “We all know that ‘art’ is in the eye of the beholder. For us forming an art collection has also been demanding, opportunistic, and exciting. Irene and I decided our paintings would be by American painters, alive or dead, of American-related subjects, in any medium, of any time, and which of course attract our eye and emotions. We chose works in which we believe there is fine art regardless of whether the artist is generally considered first class. We have found that lesser-known artists can turn out great art and we love to include that work in our collection. We choose to think of our collection as American Coastal Art.” Genetta McLean, Ph.D. who assisted in this project notes, “...Its uniqueness is in its unifying theme—American coastal art—which combines various genres, styles, and periods into one group. As you might expect, this collection is a personal vision, one of intense emotional response to the sea, capturing a beauty that is entirely visual.” About Custom Museum Publishing |
