Penobscot Bay Singers - Maine Midcoast Choral in its 38th Season

Founded in 1973 by Robert Coller (and initially named after him), the Penobscot Bay Singers have been performing throughout the Maine Midcoast area ever since, bringing fine choral music to several communities.

Members gather weekly from the Waldo and Knox County areas throughout the season to rehearse in preparation for winter, spring and summer (pops) concerts.

The Singers are directed by Richard M. Dostie, a charter member who is a native of Fairfield and a graduate of Middlebury College. He is also organist at Penney Memorial Union Baptist Church in Augusta and is active as a jazz and show musician in the Mount Desert and Midcoast areas.

CONSIDER MAKING A DONATION to cover the PenBay Singers increasing expenses.

PBS is a 501(c)(3) organization. If you wish an acknowledgement of your donation for tax purposes, please e-mail: PenBaySingers@gmail.com

Persons interested in auditioning for our Spring concert may e-mail Rick at: rmdostie@myfairpoint.net.

For more information about the Penobscot Bay Singers email penbaysingers@gmail.com or write to Penobscot Bay Singers, P.O. Box 5, Belfast, Maine, 04915.

JOIN THE PENOBSCOT BAY SINGERS - MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Christmas 2011 Concerts: Scheduled for Dec. 9, 10 and 11 (in Belfast and Searsport).

Spring 2012 Concerts: "Americana". Scheduled for March 31, April 1, 2012. (in Belfast)

Pop Concerts 2012: June 8 & 9, 2012 (in Belfast)

Additional concert details will be posted when available. You can also e-mail PenBaySingers@gmail.com for more information.

The Penobscot Bay Singers, now in their 38th season, draw their membership from all over Waldo County and occasionally beyond. They offer three concerts each year: two classical/liturgical and a pops concert. While member dues and concert income help defray the costs of good direction and accompaniment and some music, it is not enough to support the use of other instrumentalists, such as the harpist and oboeist featured in the Christmas concerts in 2010 or new music. To support such music, donations are welcome. The Singers are a 501(c)(3) organization. For more information, write PBS, PO Box 5, Belfast, Maine, 04915.

There is no admission charge for any of the performances, however a $12 donation is suggested. The Penobscot Bay Singers, now in their 38th season, are directed by Richard Dostie of Fairfield and accompanied by Linnea Johnson of Belfast. The group rehearses in Belfast and presents three concerts a year. PBS is a not-for-profit organization supported through member dues, concert revenues and the support of friends. For more information, please write to the Penobscot Bay Singers, PO Box 5, Belfast, Maine 04915.

Calling All Singers...
Kathy Hayes 2009-12-13 22:55:07

Fellow Singers, Thank you all for great singing in this concert cycle. Have a wonderful holiday season. Our first rehearsal for "Peaceable Kingdom" will be Wednesday, January 6, at 7 pm. If you know other singers, who have sung with us before and want to join us, please recruit them. This piece is for double choir, so the more the merrier. Peace, Syrena
Many Thanks
Kathy Hayes 2009-12-13 22:52:07

Thanks Lynne for the kind words!!! Supporting our music program happens in many different ways. We enjoyed many beautiful compliments after our weekend of concerts... Please continue to enjoy!!! Happy Holidays!
Lynne Rayburn 2009-12-04 21:36:59

Thanks for al your beautiful work. I used to sing semi-professionally and loved it dearly. I'd love to join but I think my voice is gone. Peter Nessin and Stephanie Wagner are friends of mine and members, I believe.
Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Lynne

Maine Art Scene’s individual artist press release deal is absolutely the best I’ve ever heard of! Since you posted notice of "The Book of Forms" yesterday on your web site and on your Facebook page (which I linked to mine) I’ve heard from more than a dozen people about it, and not all of them are from Maine, either.

Thanks for the existence of Maine Art Scene.

I just wanted to show and share appreciation to the 'Maine Art Scene', especially for its 'Virtual gallery'. An image from one of my paintings is on the cover of The Scene magazine this month thanks to the selection being made by the editor of the magazine after looking through the virtual online art gallery. Thanks to Maine art Scene for all it's creative work.

This is a beautiful magazine, I had no idea. Where have I been? The way messages float to one side is neat. Congratulations on an amazing contribution.
