(Image: Poster by Sara Shute) (Belfast, ME) Arts in the Park, the perennial favorite of Midcoast Maine art shows, is more than a juried show with a terrific selection of fine artists and artisans in a beautiful waterfront venue. This year there are many new artists, along with a good number of regulars. In all, 85 artists and artisans will be participating including potters, painters, photographers; jewelers, fiber artists and sculptors. Artist of the Year is fiber artist Jodi Clayton whose artistry consists of making beautiful garments from hand dyed and felted silk. Her gallery/boutique, One Lupine Fiber Arts, is located on Park Street in Bangor. The poster, designed by Sara Shute, features on of Jodi's beautiful scarfs as the motif. Over the last 17 years of the show, the organizers have made efforts to create more of a festival feel, and have achieved this by having a selection of musicians who play live music continuously during the weekend as well as providing a diverse selection of food vendors. The Music Schedule Is: Sunday Food offerings include: The Game Loft's grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and special Belfast Splash beverage; the Uproot Pie Co., makers of on-site wood-fired pizza; the Maine Falafel Co., serving delicious felafel and gyro on flatbread; Ye Old Fish & Chips with their British style fish 'n' chips and Maine lobster rolls; ice cream vendor Stone Fox Farm Creamery; and The Good Kettle with hot coffee, iced tea, Maine whoopie pies and other home-baked goods. It all takes place on Saturday, July 7th and Sunday, July 8th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, downtown on Belfast's beautiful harbor and waterfront. Parking is available throughout the city, so come over to lovely historic Belfast for the day or the weekend.
