(Image by Artist Dan Daly of Camden) Whether you are an artist or you represent artists in a gallery, Aldermere Farm invites you to submit artwork for their Annual Art Show and Sale that will take place on Saturday August 15th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Artists are urged to submit those amazing images that they have captured over the years of Aldermere Farm and the herd of Belted Galloway cattle. This year is the ten year anniversary since Albert Chatfield Jr. gifted Aldermere Farm and its herd of prized Belted Galloway cattle to Maine Coast Heritage Trust. His vision is still in place today because of the conservation easements that he placed on the property and through the staff and volunteers who manage the land, cattle, and programs. Over the years artists have captured the essence of his vision through their paintings of the Farm, thus it is a pleasure for the staff to be able to bring these pieces together in one place for the community to enjoy. The farm staff and the community are always excited to see how local artists have captured the farm and the “Belties” at this annual event. Artwork representing Aldermere Farm and the beloved Belties will be the emphasis of the Annual Art Show and Sale, however, original paintings and prints of Maine coastal scenes will also be accepted in honor of the work that Maine Coast Heritage Trust does to preserve these landscapes. The Art Show and Sale represents a very important fundraiser to support the farm’s youth programs, the continued preservation of this wonderful community landmark, the cattle operations, and the local artists themselves. Artists have two different options for participating: Exhibiting and selling artwork with 30% of the sales price being donated to Aldermere Farm or donating artwork with 100% of the sales price benefiting Aldermere Farm. Artists are invited to submit for sale framed or matted originals in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, and pastel, or prints of paintings. All artwork needs to depict the Belted Galloway cattle, Aldermere Farm scenery, or Maine coastal scenes. There is no limit to the number originals each artist can submit but prints are limited to 15 per artist. Prints should also be placed in a box or container that could be used for display purposes. Artwork will be on display at the barn/farmhouse on Friday evening August 14th for a Member Appreciation Night event and then all day Saturday for the Art Show and Sale. Artwork can be brought to the farm during business hours (Monday – Friday 8:00 am-3:30 pm) with the last day for submission being Tuesday August 11th at 3:30 pm.
