(Image: "Home Grown Dollar" by Kenny Cole) (Portland, ME) Attention artists and others! We want to hear how YOU would spend our war dollars--let’s bring our war $$ home! Artists and the public are invited to bring their creative energy and ideas to help us envision how we could better spend our war dollars. Some artists will draw their own ideas, some will translate public requests (ideas) into images and others will draw portraits of veterans, some of which, may be posted in Space Gallery for the remainder of the exhibit. Join us for a day of camaraderie, drawing and arts activism. This event is open to the public and will feature visual artists: Kenny Cole, Corliss Chastain, Natasha Mayers, Brian Reeves, Robert Shetterly and many more. Draw-A-Thon II is sponsored by: The Union of Maine Visual Artists, Code Pink Maine, Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space, and Maine Veterans For Peace. Please meet at: Artists interested in participating should contact Pat Taub via email (pattaub@earthlink.net) by Saturday, October 30th. Lunch will be provided for participating artists. This event is being held in conjunction with the exhibit: “The Hellfire Story,” an exhibition/installation by visual artist Kenny Cole exploring the history and deployment of the Hellfire Missile System. Kenny's exhibit runs November 5th through December 9, 2010 at Space Gallery, located at 538 Congress Street in Portland, Maine.
