(Image: From the Film "Gold Rush" - Courtesy of Saco River Theatre) (Bar Mills, ME) On Saturday, October 6th at 7:30 pm. In this timeless masterpiece from the silent film era of Hollywood, Charlie, with gold lust in his blood, endures killer snowstorms in the Yukon, hilarious cliff-hanging mishaps, starvation, unrequited love, and a bear in his rickety cabin. Shown on the BIG SCREEN (with popcorn and live music), it will be preceded by the Harold Lloyd short comedy, "Ask Father" (1919). Both films will be accompanied by Mark Tipton’s original silent film score, (featured on MPBN's "Maine Things Considered”). Musicians include: Mark Tipton on trumpet, Jesse Feinberg on piano, Joshua DeScherer on bass, and Hayes Porterfield on drums. Fresh popcorn and live music will revive the old Grange Hall’s heyday as a silent movie theater. Come if you can! Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. The Saco River Theatre is located at 29 Salmon Fall Road in Bar Mills (GPS location is Buxton, Maine 04093) and the Old White Church is located right next door.
