(Portland, ME) Artist Rachel Smith Maher is pleased to announce the opening of her newest exhibit "Seasons of Maine" at Bard Coffee in Portland's Old Port. The watercolor paintings, depicting the colors of the seasons she experiences in her home state, can be viewed through September.

About the Artist
Rachel Maher is a Maine native who has been painting with watercolors for over 10 years. She expresses her fascination with nature in a medium that challenges the artist to let go, and allow the image to emerge from the heart. She is amazed and inspired by splashing oceans, trees in winter, blaze orange sunsets, and the deep purples and greens in her flower garden. Witnessing and documenting God’s creation is a treasure, and holds eternal value for the artist, as well as an opportunity for the observer to experience the peace that artwork can elicit. Primarily self-taught, Rachel has nonetheless been guided by several beloved Maine artists including Judith Kinsman, Marvin Hollis Jacobs, Jan Kilburn, and Evelyn Dunphy.

Bard Coffee is located at 185 Middle Street in Portland. For more information, please call 207-899-4788.
