A Week-Long Summer Gallery Opening August 18

(Sorrento, ME) Figurative acrylic paintings and collages by Kathleen Noyes and charcoal drawings by Hasso Ewing are shown at a new venue in Sorrento, Maine. Toot & Tommy's is a renovated house, formerly an old boatyard run by two brothers, Toot and Tommy Andrews. The old Andrew's homestead, derelict for years, has found new life as a fine arts gallery.

About Hasso Ewing
Hasso Ewing loves the immediacy of simple materials: charcoal and water on rag paper, with maybe a little color to spice things up. The idea of basic natural ingredients is present in the frames: wood rough cut with a portable sawmill where the tree was felled. The gallery space where this show will be held is also an extension of her desire to keep it simple, unadorned and raw. She works fast, trying to stay just this side of reality, allowing some areas of the work to remain lost in blackness, while others gain focus. This weeklong show is a collection of black and white drawings done on Sorrento Point, Maine.

There will be an artist's opening on Saturday, August 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The gallery will be open August 19th (the day after the opening) for the next week until August 25th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Toot & Tommy's is located on the corner of Doane's Point Avenue and Pond Street in Sorrento, Maine.
