The Exhibit Runs September 28th through November 10th(Kennebunk, ME) Eight notable fine art photographers have been invited to exhibit a sampling of their work at the Irvine Gallery at River Tree Arts. An opening reception will take place at the gallery on Friday, September 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. There will also be an optional prix fixe dinner to follow at On the Marsh Bistro. (Image: Photograph by Andrea Mabee) Each of the photographers in this exhibit clearly presents his or her own unique style: The night images presented by Jim Nickelson draw us into the mystery of darkness and gives us a magical view of the landscape. Joseph Barnnet’s austere landscapes emphasize his mastery of composition and design and often have a wonderfully strong graphic element. Beth Anne Gordley’s images of dancers exude a touch of elegance and grace. Beth explains, “An aspiration of my work is to create an aspect of intrigue within my photograph." The floral still life images of Andrea Mabee bring to mind splendid paintings by the Dutch masters, while her images of ice shacks play with color in a completely different genre. Mary Woodman continues to capture the essence of her subjects. The sensuous curves that create the motion of the oceans turbulent waves are both lush and luring. Mary says that her images are “ observations of the world around me; of the sheer beauty of local natural forms.” Brad Maushart has an incredible artist's eye. His black and white photographs of people reveal his appreciation and sensitivities of the subtleties of light and form. The ethereal quality that is found in the images created by Felice Boucher is stunning. Felice is a photographer who continues to push the envelope with creative possibilities. The sheer beauty and vastness found in Joe Devenney’s landscapes and seascapes are intensified by his talent and great sense of color. River Tree Arts is located in Lower Village, minutes from Dock Square, at 35 Western Avenue in Kennebunk. For more information, please call 207-967-9120 or visit www.rivertreearts.org. |
