DIANNA RUST (Camden, ME)
Drawn initially by the light and peace in and around my home, I have been continuing with an earlier photographic project "Inside-Outside".
I have always been intrigued by how things 'look' and how what is mirrored back is not always a literal interpretation. Now, with "Inside-Outside Extended", I'm enjoying the surprises and happenstances of making images using a homemade hatbox pinhole camera. In a fast-paced high tech age, there's a certain beauty in the simplicity of this equipement. Furthermore, the gold-toned salt prints, on watercolor paper, use a method that is one of the oldest historical photographic process known. This work is very much about the work of the hand, and each print is unique.
