(Belfast, ME) During February break, popular instructor Lesia Sochor will be teaching a Chinese Ink Drawing & Calligraphy course at Waterfall Arts in Belfast. Students ages 8 to 12 will learn about the ancient art of Chinese painting and character making. The characters in Chinese calligraphy are over 4,000 years old and believed to be the oldest writing system in the world. Students will practice this ancient and beautiful art form while painting plum blossoms, pandas, mountains and more. Students will paint on rice paper and traditional long scrolls with bamboo brushes and will learn to grind ink on a suzuri with an ink stick.
