SRT Classical Music Series Presents: Music From Traveling Sounds Brenda Bonneville, editor May 17, 2017 (Bar Mills, ME) The Saco River Theatre Classical Music Series is proud to present “Music from Traveling Sounds” from the Juilliard School of Music featuring Kenneth Renshaw, Yi Qun Xu and Yoon Lee. These brilliant young members have all won prestigious international awards in their respective instruments, and are among the brightest young talents on the world stage. The performance takes place on Saturday, May 27 at 7:30 pm – doors open at 7:00 pm – at the Old White Church located at 15 Salmon Falls Road (right next to the Saco River Theatre). In addition on Sunday, May 28, Renshaw, Xu and Lee will offer free and open-to-the-public master classes from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. About the Musicians Kenneth Renshaw: With playing hailed as “gorgeous, finely detailed…positively ravishing, a marvel of emotional maturity and assurance” (San Francisco Classical Voice) and praised for its “natural and honest sense of communication” (Strad Magazine), American violinist Kenneth Renshaw has appeared as soloist with orchestras throughout the world. Kenneth won First Prize and the EMCY Prize for Best Semifinal Recital at the 2012 Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition. He also won First Prize, the Mozart Concerto Prize, and the Sonata Prize at the 2010 Spohr International Violin Competitions, and First Prize at the 2009 Los Angeles Philharmonic competition, and was a Laureate of the 2015 Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition of Belgium. Yi Qun Xu: A native of China, Xu has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician across the United States. She has won top prizes in China’s national cello competitions as well as second prize at the Juilliard Concerto Competition, first prizes in the 2017 Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra Instrumental Competition, 2008 Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition in Croatia, and the 2010 ASTA National Solo Competition. Yoon Lee: Solo pianist, chamber musician, and teacher active in the New York metropolitan area Lee was the special prize winner of the Anton G. Rubinstein International Piano Competition. Yoon has been on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, Château de Fontainebleau in France, and the Schumann-Haus Museum in Leipzig, in addition to many other stages of New York, Europe, and Seoul. Her live performances have been featured on WQXR, the American classical radio station that serves the New York metropolitan area, and KBS, the national television station of South Korea.
