(Searsport, ME) WORKSHOP + GALLERY will exhibit work by sculptor and furniture maker Yuri Kobayashi. Born in Japan and now based in Rockport, Maine, Kobayashi earned a B.A. in architectural design at Musashino Art University in Tokyo and then trained in woodworking at Shinrin Takumi Juku in Takayama City. She also holds an M.F.A. in furniture design from San Diego State University, and for many years taught at the Rhode Island School of Design. Employing her discipline in traditional woodworking, she strives to capture her wonder and emotional nature in objects from abstract sculptures to functional pieces of furniture.
The public is invited to an opening reception for the artist on Saturday, October 28, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.
During the evening, WORKSHOP + GALLERY owners Eric and Tina Nation will unveil WINE, a vibrant, bespoke retail wine store set within the Gallery. WINE will blend a curated offering of fine art and unique wines from around the world. Christal Carrier from Central Distributors will be on hand to host a special wine tasting.
